REBECCA CAREY
Rebecca fell in love with Yoga in early 2008. Seeds had been planted along the way with introductions to Yoga in her teenage and college years, but it wasn't until she attended her first class at Kali Yuga Yoga in Nashville, TN as a young professional that she realized how powerful this practice could be. As a person who was drawn toward the spiritual and loved physical exercise, finding the combination of the two in Yoga felt like a perfect fit; the practice she had unknowingly been in search of for years. Filled with a calling and strong desire to share the benefits of Yoga with others, she completed her 230 Hr. Teacher Training at the Asheville Yoga Center in 2010 with her teachers, Stephanie Keach and Shala Worsley. In 2014, she earned her 500 Hr. Advanced Teaching Certification through the Asheville Yoga Center.
Rebecca's teaching style is influenced by an eclectic blend of Yoga traditions. Her classes are predominantly a blend of creative Vinyasa and Yin. She also has training in Prenatal Yoga, Senior Yoga, and Yoga as Therapy. A big fan of bodies of water and the outdoors, Rebecca is certified in Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga.
Rebecca is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology, and she is a graduate of the Volunteer State Physical Therapist Assistant program. Her background in Biology and Physical Therapy is incredibly valuable as a Yoga Teacher as she is able to use her knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology in her application of postures, sequencing, and to enhance students' understanding and comfort. In 2020, she also became Reiki Level 1 & 2 certified.
In addition to a science, she believes Yoga is an art and intertwines Yoga philosophy, metaphors to daily life, and creativity into her classes. Rebecca's classes are known for their balanced approach; moments of challenge and ease, movement and stillness, and focus on the internal and the external. All in all, Rebecca’s classes create a nurturing, supportive environment for students to explore and deepen their practices with awareness, heart, and personal freedom.
Rebecca is also an artist. For more info on Rebecca's art visit: instagram.com/rebeccacareyart.
