Jessica fell in love with yoga on Valentine's Day in 2016 when she attended her first Shakti Power Flow. Her co-worker/Shakti regular asked her to come to class almost every day for a month and she was instantly hooked. The physical challenge, emotional benefits, and friendly faces kept her coming back for more. A small seed was planted in her mind in the early days of her practice that someday she would like to teach and share this transformational practice with others. Yoga helped her shift fear into possibility, and self-doubt into courage. She signed up for an assisting workshop in February 2017, completed her 200-hour training with Empower School of Yoga in March 2018 and began working full-time with Shakti and Shakti Yoga University in April 2019. The consistent practice of yoga helped grow that small seed into something big: one breath, one pose and one class at a time.

As a teacher, it is her intention to create joy and ease, and encourage her students to be curious about the modifications, variations, and mindfulness that make a yoga practice their own. Her 7th grade history teacher introduced her to the concept of being a “learner for life” and it’s the way of being - one of enthusiasm for knowledge and curiosity - that she cultivates in the yoga studio. The unconditional love and support she found in the Shakti community is something she does not take for granted and hopes to pay it forward every time she walks through the door.

She is a graduate of Belmont University where she studied public relations and music business. After graduation and a brief stint living in Brooklyn and back with her parents in Hamilton, OH, she decided Nashville was home and has been here ever since. When she’s not at Shakti, you can most often find her lounging by the pool reading her monthly book club book, quoting Gilmore Girls in regular conversation, hiking at Radnor Lake listening to Ariana Grande at full-volume, dining on patios with friends (the working title of her memoir) and watching chef-related documentaries on Netflix.
